Job title: ABE Teacher

Classes you teach: English language, civics, history, science

Previous work experience: Various levels of English as a Second Language

Years with the district: 6

What are some of your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy literature, podcasts, theater and music, and travel. I love to bake, and in the summer I grow vegetables in my garden.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in education
I love linguistics and being around an international crowd, so teaching English is a good career for me.

What do you enjoy most about working with students?
I enjoy learning about their lives and the interesting (and difficult) paths they have taken to be here.  Being around new citizens and people who want to earn citizenship strengthens my appreciation for my homeland.

Share a fun project you've worked on or innovative teaching method you've used this year. What made it memorable for you?
I'm teaching all three levels of a new class this year, so almost everything is new. I've partnered with my colleague who teaches the same class in the evening, and we are sharing resources and inspiration.

What do you enjoy about being part of Faribault Public Schools Community Education?
I love having a part-time job in my field, and I work with a great staff.
